Luxurios Apartment in Lower Parel

This is an apartment high up there, serene and located in an up market locality of Mumbai. The couple got lucky with the angle and location of their flat. One cannot see any other buildings in the view. What you see is a beautiful panoramic view from Worli to Mahalaksmi. Directionally, the flat gets the right amount of sunlight and being high enough they are quite insulated from the construction jamboree that is happening at Lower Parel these days.
The couple wanted their flat to be very modern but exuding a warm and welcoming energy. Simple, clean lines thus make a statement in this apartment. Having Dreamspace Interior Consultants , as the designers on the same wavelength helped a lot. They had 2500 square feet to play around with – the builders had almost given them a bare shell to realize their imagination. This was a dream home for the couple as it was their first, they did not want to compromise on anything. The apartment is shared by the two small kids who played a major deciding factor in the overall design of the home.
As you enter the home, you are greeted by an earthy red colored wall with three lit niches on one side of the lobby giving it a zen-like appeal. The lobby is otherwise white with absolutely no furniture in there reminding one of an art gallery with artwork adorning the niches and walls. The kitchen, living room and the servant room branches from the lobby. The kitchen is neatly divided into two areas – Utility cum pantry for washing, cleaning and preparation and the main kichen for cooking. This arrangement keeps the clutter inside and the kitchen looks spic and span always.
The client is quite lucky to have a huge living cum dining room opening into large balcony in a city like Mumbai. The living area has two different clusters of sofas with a modern L-shaped and a stately wooden one on the other side. All the furniture was designed and made on site. A small but adequate study room adjoining the living area is The client’s private space who was quite keen on having his own way in this room. Being an avid reader, he wanted this space to have a library and a comfortable seating to enjoy his hobby. The full wall white shelves for the books coupled with an Indian sitting and a wooden floor combine to make this room exude warmth and peace.
The master bedroom is large, minimalist and serene with a dark wood as the base colour. The lime green colours in the backdrop with the white laminated pearl finish panel add shine and class to this space. The master bathroom is tiled in black and white tiles accented with pebbles in the shower area. The kids room is an absolute riot with colour and the jungle book theme. had got one wall painted by the Aakansha kids in a jungle book theme. The peacock blue colour of the wall continues in the bathroom made up of handmade tiles.
The guest cum family bedroom, parent’s bedroom, kids room and master bedroom, all have their own small balconies. Color has been widely used to add drama in all the rooms and is integrated into the planning of the spaces. Swati has also helped retain and modify some of the existing furniture which the couple had bought from their earlier homes. The richly designed parent’s bedroom is large luxurious space well suited for their parents who keep visiting them.
All the five bathrooms in the apartment have been quite neatly designed with a proper allocation of dry and wet spaces. The tiles are accented with matching mosaics to add interest in the bathrooms. The dry areas are tiled only till the waist length and only the shower areas are fully tiled. The partly painted wall in the bathroom provides a place to hang artwork, add wall paper or texture paint to give some zing to the space.
With all the rooms having a different identity in terms of design, the house does not look fragmented, but there is sense of an interwoven space that is luxury in terms of space and design.
